About KPIT Sparkle

KPIT Sparkle is an annual innovation contest that invites undergraduate students from science and engineering colleges to tackle real-world challenges across various themes such as Generative AI, Embedded Software, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Autonomous Vehicles, and Sustainable Mobility. The contest provides a prestigious platform for students to showcase their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities, aiming to transform mobility into a cleaner, smarter, and safer.

History of KPIT Sparkle

2024

KPIT Technologies hosted its annual innovation contest, KPIT Sparkle 2024, attracting over 19,000 students from 400+ colleges. The contest received more than 1,000 ideas, with eight teams reaching the finale. Team G-Rex from Kongu Engineering College won the Platinum Award and INR 7,00,000 for their innovative hydroxy gas generation system. The event featured Dr. Tessy Thomas, Director General of Aeronautical Systems, DRDO, as the chief guest. Read more to finale page

2023

KPIT Sparkle 2023 - The ninth Edition of KPIT Sparkle was successfully completed on 18th and 19th March, 2023 and was held at KPIT premises located at Hinjewadi, Pune. The teams with 24 best ideas, shortlisted from over 1,000 entries across India, successfully presented their prototypes. Shri Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of EC, NAAC was the chief guest for the grand finale event.

2022

KPIT Sparkle 2022 received more than 1300 ideas from over 15,000 students across more than 800 colleges in India. The top 24 teams presented working prototypes of their solutions at the grand finale held on 26 March 2022 at the Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCOE), Pune. Dr Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer at Ministry of Education (Govt. of India), and Mrs Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson of Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF), were the guest of honour and chief guest respectively, at the grand finale event.

2021

KPIT Sparkle 2021 - The seventh Edition of KPIT Sparkle was successfully completed on 6th March, 2021 and was the first virtual edition because of the global pandemic. The teams with 20 best ideas, shortlisted from over 2,700 entries across India, successfully presented prototypes virtually. Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India and Dr Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, were guest of honor and chief guest, respectively, at the virtual grand finale event.

2020

In its sixth year now, the theme for KPIT Sparkle 2020 was Mobility & Energy for the future. The event was held on 29th February and 1st March 2020 at the Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCOE), Akurdi – Pune. This year the contest attracted participation from 1000+ colleges in 25 States & 4 Union Territories of India, representing an astonishing 20000+ students through 3000+ projects. Highlights for this year was the increased participation from premier institutes (IITs – 17, NITs – 21).

2019

The fifth edition of KPIT Sparkle received more than 2000 ideas from around 22,000 engineering and science students across India. The 30 best teams presented prototypes of their solutions to the jury and incubation partners at the grand finale at a public exhibition, held at the premises of the event's academic partner, Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCOE), Pune.

2018

This was the fourth year of KPIT Sparkle a national design and development innovation contest for science and engineering students. The theme of the competition in this edition was 'Next Generation Energy and Transportation Solutions'. This year we received over 12,000 registrations from more than 600 engineering and science colleges, highlights for this year was the increased participation from premier institutes (IITs, NITs) from 9 to 28. We also saw an increase participation 63 of top 100 institutes across India, the list as published by the MHRD (NIRF rankings)..
